Harmony-Zelienople Community Band Plays Free Concert Today

Bells will be ringing Sunday as the Harmony-Zelienople Community Band performs its annual spring concert on Sunday.

The free concert?which features many Seneca Valley teachers playing instruments?will take place a 2 p.m. at the Seneca Valley Intermediate High School.

The teachers involved are Susan Dinger, Louis Ewing, Jennifer Mitnick, Pam North, Kelly Levere, Kristin Schlemmer, and Sara Snyder. Special Guest Brad Snyder, a senior at the high school, will play a trombone solo. Sue Garton also will have a hand bell solo.

Local ringers and choirs will join in for the concert?s grand finale.

Founded in 1999 as an adult evening education class at Seneca Valley with 22 people, The Harmony-Zelienople Community Band has grown to include 104 members?including children of instrumentalists.

Beginning in January, the band meets weekly and ends the season with its annual spring concert in April. This is the 14th year for the program.
