Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie rumors say that the OS was spotted running on the Google Nexus 5 according to US Daily Voice, which hedges its bets by pointing out,?"When it comes to unannounced devices getting spotted ahead of their release dates or announcements, it isn't uncommon to see phony benchmark results, as such leaks are typically quite easy to doctor. So please be guided accordingly, as this purported Nexus 5 leak could be another case of how easy it is to create fake benchmarks." Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie release date is expected to be October according to prior rumors, following the release of Android 4.03 Jelly Bean in July.

The source of the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie rumors come from RBMen,?a Chinese site which claims a phone called the "Google X" was spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark listing. We check RBMen using Google translate and scoured AnTuTu and couldn't find either the article or "Google X" phone listed on either site. "Google X" was the speculated name about a Google "hero" phone in advance of the Google I/O conference 2013. Many speculated the "Google X" was the Nexus 5. We later learned that a phone by that name never existed and most likely was referring to the Motorola X, a mid-range phone coming soon.
These Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie rumors strike us as fake, US Daily Voice cites benchmarks for the device, "The benchmark score recorded was a rather underwhelming 15,479, and aside from Android 5.0, it looks like the device is powered by a 1.5 GHz processor, number of cores unknown." This seems odd because we have a fairly good idea that the Nexus 5 will be largely based on the LG Optimus G2.

We know what the LG Optimus G2 boasts in terms of specs, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 900 quad-core processor with 2.3GHZ for each core and 2GB RAM. The Nexus 5 is likely to have very similar specs to that, so it's probably safe to say that based off these benchmarks the phone was not the Nexus 5. The LG Optimus G2 has mostly been confirmed as the base for the new Nexus 5.
A phone that may be the root of these Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie rumors is the Motorla X, the specs were reported as the following by @evleaks?"Anyway, the specs include a 720p display of unknown dimensions and 1.7GHz dual-core Krait CPU with 2GB of RAM on the MSM8960 Pro chipset. Internal memory is 16GB, but a microSD card slot isn't mentioned." This still doesn't fully match up with whatever this "Google X" device that US Daily Voice saw was.
We had previously speculated that the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie release date was in October providing and that the Nexus 5 would be the first device to run Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Of course this was contingent on a release of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in July which doesn't appear to be happening since none of the upcoming flagships like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 appear to have it.
So far we still don't know much itself about Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Previous rumors had said that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie could be run on lower-end devices with as little as 512MB RAM. PhonesReview says that this doesn't seem likely,?"However, this latest report seems to negate that, saying that the amount of work necessary to make this achievable would be astonishing. One Android developer said that KLP is more likely to be compatible only with phones that have at least a dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM."
If this is true then earlier rumors and leaks?that several older Samsung devices like the Samsung Galaxy S1, Samsung Galaxy Note 1, Galaxy Grand and others would get Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie seems to be unlikely, "According to another report from WSJ, Google is feverishly working on finishing up Android 4.3 and releasing it and is planning on dropping Android Key Lime Pie (perhaps version 5.0) on the scene this fall. According to sources the next Android iteration (KLP, not JB) will be "better tailored to the lower-cost smartphones".

Other Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie rumors relate to the GPS camera, apparently a patent has been filed for a next-gen GPS controlled camera. An interesting, or perhaps disturbing feature it works as follows: "So here's the deal with GPS control - the theory is that the Smartphone is tracked by satellite in order to pinpoint its location, which is then used to collect data about the time of day, the season of the year and the ambient weather conditions at the time to automatically set the camera to the ideal settings. Or to put it another way, the camera's 'auto' mode would be changed once and for all."?Aside from privacy concerns it sounds like an interesting feature for the Nexus 5 and something that isn't present on the LG Optimus G2 as far as we know.
It will be interesting to see if Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will be tailored to accommodate this feature. That would certainly explain why it may need at least a dual-core with 2GB of RAM rather than the 512MB speculated about before. Hopefully we will soon hear something from Google about how thing with the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie development is progressing and if we can still expect October to be the release date.
